I was with two others outside in total darkness. The moon was not present. Our faces suddenly lit up and we looked nearly straight up. The flash was long enough that I could still see the object after turning my head. I saw it for perhaps 0.5-1 second and then saw the light dimmed to nothing in a straight line.
