I am not sure this was a meteor. It almost looked like a comet. It made a huge smoke ring when it was directly overhead of my location in central Illinois. After the smoke ring we could see a trail of something coming off of it. The smoke ring lingered for quite sometime. It kept traveling towards in a northeastern direction. I had tried to search for a passing satellites but could not find any that were in this area at the time.

Remarks
Did not notice a smoke trail until after it got real bright and made a huge smoke ring. After that it left a smoke trail. The fireball never disappeared it just kept traveling. I'm not even sure it was a fireball.
