I was inside my house so would not have been able to hear any sound it may have created. The whole thing lasted about three seconds. There were 3 or 4 smaller pieces that separated from the top side of the meteorite as it descended. My view was looking out over flat open prairie and was unobstructed. The flash seemed to have disappeared before the object contacted the ground.
