I did not see the fireball per se. There was a flash of light that lasted only a second but it was bright enough that the green of the grass was perceptible. The moon was lightly veiled by clouds and behind my back. When I looked up I saw a glowing steak about the width of a finger at arms length. During the time of it's persistance it initially got brighter before fading away. I kept quiet while paying attention for a sound but I did not hear any.

It was a glow but the sky was cloudy and I only able to see a part that peeked through the clouds.
