Remarks | I've seen three other fireballs in my lifetime. All of them were large green balls with very long tails, and they seemed very far away. This was different. It seemed quite close. It was so so piercing bright. The size of it was indistinct, but it was so bright and just suddenly there. I was looking right in that spot when it suddenly appeared (I was standing on my deck, watching for my neighbour who had just left my yard, waiting for him to walk up his steps, and it appeared in the sky right behind/above where I was looking. The colours were extraordinary, and like I say, piercing in their brightness...though the head was brighter than the tail. I wondered if someone set off a flare, or fireworks even, but it didn't arc or change speed. It had the movement characteristics of a meteor. I'm a regular sky watcher and have seen probably hundreds of meteors in my life so am familiar with them. The sky was clear that evening, with the end of a nice sunset still in the sky. I've never seen anything like it, in a sky that was not yet dark. |

Remarks | The train was a bright glowing light pink which then changed to dark grey smoke-like. The sky was not yet dark so it looked very different from ones I've seen in the night sky. I lost sight of it behind the house two doors down so I do not know how it terminated. The fireball was very bright still when it went behind the house. The ball itself was bright white in the centre surrounded by a corona of green |
