Was out on a bike ride entering Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto and happen to be looking in about correct direction and it was so bright couldn't miss it.

Smoke. Sunset time ground is dim but a few high clouds still in sun. Very bright then burned out quickly. Was listening to music and didn't think to listen for any sound.

Happened quickly. Pinkish and bright flash and I think a few pieces then over.. Then a minute later looked up and saw smoke from it's trail and took cell phone picture.
