This report has been linked to the following event: Event 7206-2020
Observer
NameRoger D
Experience Level3/5
Remarks1. Very experienced with professional fireworks, this did not seem to be one.2. I've seen meteors (and maybe one space junk fall in about 1963), but never the odd fragmenting like "thin" material with lots of drag, departing randomly.I think I saw a report from somewhere near Sacramento ("Justin P"?).I bet junk from an older S->N launch.

Terminal flash
ObservationYes
RemarksSilvery trail with little arc ended in a modest greenish flash. Just before and during flash orangish bits seemed to randomly fly off in different directions without velocity, like an exfoliation or spauling. Many drags on bursting. No FM radio sound on 96.9.
Fragmentation
ObservationYes
RemarksSee above. They did not drift down like fireworks debris, seemed to peel then quickly go dark. Went in all directions. Didn't continue as a cohort.
