Remarks | Was driving home along the I-70, and it was directly in my field of view (i.e. I was driving towards it). Looked like it was falling straight down (i suspect a trick of perspective). It being a very populated area (shopping malls, restaurants here) it didn't appear very bright, but it should be taken into account that nothing dimmer than 0 mag stars would be visible from this site. looked like a firework at first, but kept a straight path (unlike a dying firework that weaves a little) and picked up speed (unlike a firework that really doesn't). Was bluish white, turned pink for a split second (though that could be observational error) and then broke into 3-4 pieces for the last second. Lasted long enough for me to be able to point it out to my wife and for her to notice the break up as well. |
