RemarksI walked outside to get something from my car and noted how dark it was, partially due to cloud cover. I let my eyes adjust for a minute or so and then noticed the night sky was getting brighter. I thought that maybe clouds had parted to allow moonlight through. I looked up and saw a bright white object streaking through the sky extremely fast. Behind it there was a long glow of blue and green light. It looked to be very close to the ground as if it were under the clouds. It came from WNW and headed ESE. If I were to estimate the width of the object and its tail, it would be a little bigger than two fists held side by side at arms length. There was not noise. I waited a little longer thinking I would hear something or see a big explosion or something, but didn't hear or see anything else. I've seen "shooting stars" before and this was nothing like that. I've never seen anything like this before. Must say, it was beautiful, but did concern me how close to ground level it was.
