Bright Leonid Fireball Seen from Albany, MissouriHere is video from a most remarkable meteor event that entered the atmosphere above the Mississippi River this morning at 5:29 a.m. The event was easily visible from here in Albany, Missouri as seen in this video. The brightness of this fireball overwhelmed the camera's sensor at one point. The fireball is part of the annual Leonid Meteor Shower that occurs this time each year. The most remarkable part was the persistent train that lasted over 15 minutes after the meteor entered the atmosphere. I sped up the video to show how the train morphed into different shapes as it slowly dissipated and drifted into the atmosphere.
