RemarksI was on the second floor, and I caught sight of the object through a slim window about 15 feet away; so I only caught a glimpse of its path. It was very bright and detailed; rather than a homogenous streak of light, it had a dark center and a brighter zone flared around it, as one sees when looking at a candle. I read that as it either being very large and far away, or very close. As I was not looking high above the horizon, and the object's seemingly-downward path didn't affect its size, it didn't have any feeling of moving "away," so my brain put those together as "very close, falling downward." But as noted above, I have no astronomy experience; and my brain really doesn't get much practice deciphering visual signals into three-space. Hopefully you can read through whatever optical illusions I experienced and pull out something useful.
