Remarks | The time is approximate. I didn't look at my timepiece. I was out in the parking lot of the Hastings Museum after an evening special presentation. It was supposed end 8:30 or 9 and I think it was more toward 9, with the curator saying we were running 5-10 minutes late. I was talking with another couple facing west when I saw a red flash a bit to the right, WNW, It was thicker and lasted longer than usual meteor, ending in a shower of red sparks. It looked like it was traveling almost straight down, veering a little to the north, and was about halfway up to zenith. It looked so close that one member of the party suggesting going to look for fragments. |
